Mendy Fry Achieves Top Speed and Low Elapsed Times At The Speed Spectacular On Mickey Thompson Tires

05/25/09

Stow, OH - Mendy Fry, driver of "McCain's Bomb Squad", her 1973 Plymouth Duster Nitro Funny Car, earned top speed this past weekend at the second annual Speed Spectacular held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on The Strip on Mickey Thompson ET Drag tires.

The team smoked the quarter mile in just 6.232 seconds at 225.97 miles per hour during the second exhibition round of Nitro Funny Cars. According to Fry's team, this makes the third weekend of racing in four weeks that Fry has led the field in performance. Fry qualified number one at Sacramento Raceway's Funny Car Fever, after dipping into the five-second zone twice during eliminations. At Dragfest the following weekend, held at Auto Club Famoso Raceway, the team was event runner-up. That was followed by the performance this past weekend setting low elapsed time and top speed in Las Vegas.

"You know that none of this could be done without our sponsors, including Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels," said Mendy Fry, driver of McCain's Bomb Squad, the 1973 Plymouth Duster Nitro Funny Car. "These Mickey Thompson drag slicks have really helped to minimize traction issues. These slicks are incredible!"
