Bruce Boland Wins PMRA Challenge At IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals On Mickey Thompson Tires

Stow, OH - Bruce Boland raced B&B Racing’s 1967 Chevy Nova to victory at the PMRA Challenge Presented by Motorsports 1320 at the Grand Bend Motorplex, Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada, on July 19, 2009. Boland, the 2007 and 2008 PMRA Champion who competes on Mickey Thompson #3187 tires, qualified number one for the race and third in the 2009 PMRA tour.

With his victory, Boland became the second driver in PMRA history to win his third event. Boland met Eric Latino in the final. For Latino, it was his first final-round showing. He was defeated by Boland who ran a 4.105-second, 178.05-mile per hour final against Latino’s 4.504-second, 163.53 mile per hour pass in eighth-mile competition.

Boland continues to lead the PMRA Championship Points Award Series Standings, and has 841 points with his latest win. Boland’s top speed of the event, 183.39 miles per hour, was only slightly behind the PMRA eighth-mile speed record of 184.23 mph set by Mike Stawicki. In addition to the event win, Boland was also the Mickey Thompson Low Qualifier Contingency Award winner.
