Bill Glidden Sets IHRA Pro Mod World Speed Record And Takes Home The Northern Nationals Title On Mickey Thompson Tires
Stow, Ohio – Aug. 19, 2016 – Mickey Thompson-sponsored Pro Mod racer Bill Glidden finished the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) season with his first IHRA win, and a new world speed record of 250.98mph in the Precision Turbo & Engine (PTE) 2014 Pro Mod Chevrolet Camaro on Mickey Thompson ET Drag tires.
The IHRA season finale competitors faced challenging weather conditions at US 131 Motorsports Park. Glidden stopped Jason Hamstra in the final round to secure the title.
The last Glidden IHRA win was recorded in 1988 when Bob Glidden secured the IHRA Summer Nationals title, and Bill was on his father’s crew at the time.
“This was an outstanding weekend for Billy and we’re proud to share in his success,” said Tom Kundrik, Motorsports Manager for Mickey Thompson. “He had to overcome both wet weather and intense track temperatures to bring home the title and a new world speed record, something only a true champion can do.”
Owned by Harry Hruska of PTE, the 2014 Camaro was previously named the Best Engineered Car in Pro Mod, is backed by Mickey Thompson, driven by Bill Glidden, and competes with Mickey Thompson’s legendary ET Drag tires (part number 3196). PTE-equipped vehicles have set more than 270 world records and won nearly 170 world championships.
